The City of Elyria selected KS Associates to provide construction administration and observation services for the $1.5 million Abbe Road Water Main Replacement Project. The purpose of the project is to replace an aging water main that is subject to frequent breaks with a new 12" water main. The project begins just south of Hilliard Road and extends north along Abbe Road/ SR 301 to Elyria's city limits. 

The project consists of approximately 11,178 lineal feet of 12" ductile iron water main with more than 100 water service connections.

KS’s construction administration responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings and submittals, evaluating proposed equipment and/or material substitutions, evaluating the Contractor's requests for change orders, reviewing pay requests and providing the critical communication link between field and client.  A full-time Resident Project Representative (RPR) has been assigned to the project to provide appropriate observation and documentation of the construction progress.

KS Associates is working closely with the Contractor and the City to minimize disruption of service to water customers. KS is also helping to address residents' and business owners' questions and concerns throughout the duration of construction activities.

Construction commenced in June 2010 and is expected to be complete in November 2010.
