East Liberty Avenue Sanitary Sewer, Phase 2 — City of Vermilion

The City of Vermilion retained KS Associates to prepare plans, specifications and an opinion of probable construction costs for Phase 2 of a sanitary trunk sewer project to extend service to unsewered areas of the City.  The project included 1,230 lineal feet (L.F.) of 12-inch polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe, 2,740 L.F. of 8-inch PVC pipe, manholes and appurtenances. It also included a new submersible pump station.

The pre cast wet well for the pump station was 30 feet deep and had an inside diameter of 6 feet. The pump station was equipped with 2 pumps, 312 GPM at 32 feet total dynamic head (TDH). The motors were 460 V, 3 phase, 7.5 HP. The wet well used a bubbler system for level control. Equipment for flow metering and radio telemetry was included, as well as associated modifications to the receiving units at the City of Vermilion Water Treatment Plant. A standby generator was also specified for this installation.

KS Associates performed design services only for this project, which was later constructed by the City.
