Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery is the second national cemetery built in Ohio and the 119th in the national cemetery system. At full capacity, the site can provide burial space for 106,000 veterans and dependents. Lead architectural firm William F. Behnke Associates, Inc. selected KS Associates to provide site design and civil engineering services for the 272-acre project.

The $11 million project was executed in four phases beginning with the construction of all buildings, roadways and utilities. The remaining three phases consisted of the construction of committal sites. The estimated total project cost was $20 million.

KS Associates provided design services for the water service, sanitary sewage service and stormwater retention. The sanitary sewage system consisted of two separate septic treatment facilities. Existing conditions and OEPA guidelines required that the facilities be designed with mounded subsurface sand filters and evapotranspiration fields.
