Lorain City Hall Police Station Expansion, Lorain, Ohio

The Lorain City Police Station is part of the City Hall Complex on US Route 6. KS Associates was a member of the project team selected to expand the facility by approximately 30,000 square feet.

KS Associates prepared complete plans and specifications for the site improvements including relocating existing storm sewers, sanitary connections and electric utilities from an existing parking lot, which was the location for the new addition. Changes to the parking areas and revised grading allowed access to a new entrance at the rear of the building.

When the initial phase of construction is complete, the facility will include a new Criminal Investigation's Bureau and other offices that will allow the Police Department to work more efficiently. A future phase of construction will add a 60-bed jail facility to the Police Station.

Modifications to an existing abutting street were required to provide police car parking before demolition could begin. The parking lot and the building complex had to remain open and operational throughout the duration of the project.
