KS Associates was selected to provide surveying services for a bridge inspection project (LOR-611-3.58) being conducted for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Our role in the project is to establish control points and take annual measurements of the Henderson Bridge to determine any horizontal or vertical movement over time. Measurements will provide data necessary to determine if corrective action is required should the bridge shift. The bridge has been monitored since 1987 and, since that time, repairs to one abutment were required due to settlement.

The Henderson Bridge spans the Black River and has high vertical clearance, allowing large ships to pass without requiring a lift bridge. KS Associates took every necessary measure to ensure the safety of surveyors, who worked 50 to 65 feet above the ground. This project is part of a three-year contract from 2004-2006.
