They're Back!
Each year, as the days begin to grow shorter and the air becomes cooler ... they come. Our fine feathered friends, the Wild Turkeys, are back. Several employees have reported sighting the aesthetically challenged creatures strolling around the parking lot, perched on our patio furniture and peering thought the windows of our corporate conference room. The bolder ones have even come within a few feet of our front door.
One of our more inquisitive engineers did a little research and told us, "these birds nearly vacated the Ohio landscape in 1904. However, thanks to ODNR's efforts in transplanting turkeys from states with abundant populations in the 1950s and 1960s, they've been thriving."
We understand that turkeys prefer mature forests but can live in areas with as little as 15 percent
forest cover. With our offices located in a wooded, natural setting, it's no surprise we see the game gobbling around here each year. We've also been told that we may see the same turkey family year after year – the life expectancy of males is more than two years and females just over three years (although we wonder how that plays out around this time of the year).
This year, we also decided that these feathered fellows would make the perfect starring role in our annual Thanksgiving Greeting!
Turkey sightings aside, there really is no better time of year to extend our sentiment of gratitude and thanks to our friends and colleagues for your support and business. We hope you enjoy this work-day diversion, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING from all of us at KS Associates.
