ALTA and NSPS Announce Changes to Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys

Changes Became Effective January 1, 2006

If you are involved in real estate transactions, you may need a land title survey to document important details impacting the ownership of the land, such as improvements, easements, rights-of-way and other elements. To obtain a complete, thorough survey, KS Associates recommends you specify an ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey and work with a Professional Surveyor who understands the Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for these surveys.

The High Value of ALTA/ASCM Standards

ALTA/ACSM Standards are nationally accepted requirements jointly prepared by the American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS). NSPS is a member organization of the American Congress on Surveying & Mapping (ACSM). Surveying to these standards helps protect all parties involved in the transaction and can:

  • Reduce the amount of risk in the transaction.
  • Help define survey-related title exceptions.
  • Deliver a high-quality map or plat conducted with a high degree of care and professionalism.
  • Make the real estate transaction process as smooth as possible.
