March 20, 2009 – KS Associates would like to congratulate Lorain County Community College (LCCC) on the successful completion of the new Library/Community Resource Center. The project was recognized at Cleveland Engineering Society's 57th Annual Design & Construction Conference on March 4, 2009, and won an Award of Excellence in the New Construction, Small Project category.
The state-of-the art building is the signature facility of the campus and has become a technology portal for both the college and Lorain County. The 83,300-square-foot library includes experimental classrooms, distance learning spaces and expanded student services. The first floor features the North Branch of the Elyria Public Library System and is open to the public.
KS Associates provided civil engineering, LEED consulting and surveying services for the project. In addition to helping to maximize opportunities to achieve LEED rating system points, our team designed a new parking lot, modified existing parking facilities and reworked site utilities. The project is on target to obtain a Silver LEED-NC rating by the U.S. Green Building Council.
In addition to the new Library/Community Resource Center, KS Associates has provided civil engineering and surveying services for several LCCC projects including site design services for the new Entrepreneurship Innovation Center; improvements for the College Center, which involved modifying infrastructure to accommodate new traffic flow patterns for a new cafeteria and bookstore; designing a stormwater management system; and various other site-related projects.
