August 1, 2009 – The Lorain County Engineer’s Office has selected KS Associates, a civil engineering and surveying firm located in Elyria, Ohio, to design and prepare construction plans for the widening and reconstruction of Cooper Foster Park Road. Work will take place along a 1.07-mile stretch of roadway between Oberlin Avenue and Leavitt Road in the cities of Amherst and Lorain.

The goals of the project are to alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety along this heavily traveled road. Work will include the installation of new pavement including curbs and walks, drainage and ditch regrading, minor utility relocations, maintenance of traffic, signing and pavement markings, and new and upgraded traffic signals.

KS Associates was selected based on their experience and qualifications in roadway design and traffic engineering. Design of the project is underway and construction is planned for 2012.
