KS Associates Donates Surveying Services for Boy Scouts of America Project

May 9 , 2005 – The Greater Cleveland Council Boy Scouts of America has embarked on a project to build a new outdoor fitness course on the Beaumont Scout Reservation in Rock Creek, Ohio. KS Associates is donating surveying services for the project. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2005, just in time for the summer camp season.

Termed Project COPE, an acronym for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience, the course is designed to help Scouts develop team-building, leadership and problem-solving skills. Participants climb, swing, balance, jump, and rappel, as well as think through solutions to a variety of challenges. Most participants find that they can do much more than they initially thought they could.

The project is being 100 percent funded through monetary and in-kind donations from various companies throughout Cleveland. KS Associates’ involvement includes staking 17 poles and guy anchors for the course.

Eric V. Augustine, Director of Environmental Engineering at Solar Testing Laboratories, approached KS Associates for the donation. Augustine is Scoutmaster of Troop 287 and serves on the Council’s properties committee. “Solar Testing Laboratories has a very positive relationship with KS Associates and we have teamed with them on several projects. We knew the Survey Group was more than qualified to do the work and we knew they would appreciate how valuable this project would be to our Scouts.”

"When Solar Testing approached us to provide surveying services, we did not hesitate. We are excited to be part of a project that will benefit the Boy Scouts of today and future generations,” said Lynn S. Miggins, president of KS Associates.

Located along the Grand River, Beaumont is a full-service Scout Reservation on 1,260 acres of forests, fields, wetlands and lakes. In operation since 1946, Beaumont has grown into a complete reservation with facilities for Cub Scouting, winter camping, training courses as well as the Boy Scout camp.
