KS Associates to Present at Annual Ohio Parks and Recreation (OPRA) Conference, February 1-4, 2015

January 8, 2015 – KS Associates will be among the presenting companies at the 2015 Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA) Conference. The event takes place from February 1 to February 4, 2015, at the Kalahari Convention Center in Sandusky, Ohio. John S. Matricardi, P.E., KS Associates’ Director of Coastal Engineering Services, and Mark P. Cencer, P.E., a KS Associates Project Engineer, will lead an informative breakout session entitled, “Development of Waterfront Facilities and Infrastructure.”

KS Associates’ session will walk attendees through the process for developing shoreline improvements at waterfront parks and recreational facilities, from design concept through construction completion. Matricardi and Cencer will utilize the work they performed at Madison Township Park, which included a detached breakwater and boat ramp, as a case study, giving attendees insight into design and permitting challenges. The presenters will answer questions relating to waterfront design, regulatory permitting, pre-construction considerations, and construction processes. The session is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, 2015, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

According to Matricardi, “Designing improvements to waterfront properties and infrastructure can be challenging, especially when it comes to regulatory and permitting processes. KS Associates’ Coastal Engineering team will help attendees understand state and federal regulations to help avoid unforeseen, lengthy, or costly project obstacles. We will also demonstrate how sound and innovative engineering practices will lead to projects that meet their intended use today, and well into the future.”
