August 25 , 2006 – KS Associates, a civil engineering and land surveying firm located in Elyria, Ohio, has won first place in the Brochure Category of the 2006 SMPS National Marketing Communications Awards. The annual competition is sponsored by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), a 5,000-member organization comprised of marketing and business development professionals in the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry throughout the country.

According to SMPS, “the competition was fierce.” The 2006 competition was a record year in terms of the number of submissions, receiving the largest number of entries since 2001. In addition, this year’s competition had the largest juror panel ever with 80 judges. According to Kathleen M. Bast, marketing director at KS Associates, “Winning this award is a reflection of the excellence for which KS Associates strives, not only in its core disciplines of civil engineering and surveying, but in marketing as well. To be recognized nationally by industry peers is a major accomplishment and we thank SMPS for the award.”

The project team included SCK Inc., a visual communications firm, and Great Lakes Integrated, a printer serving Cleveland and international clients for more than 70 years. All copywriting and photography was performed in-house.
