KS Associates' Lakefront State Parks Surveying Project Wins POB Magazine Highlights in Surveying Contest

April 5, 2005 – KS Associates has won the Highlights in Surveying Contest sponsored by Point of Beginning (POB) magazine. The contest was designed to recognize Professional Surveyors’ roles in providing practical solutions to surveying and mapping problems through training, skill, and the application of new and evolving surveying technologies.

KS Associates’ award-winning entry was the Lakefront Stake Parks Surveying project completed for the City of Cleveland. In April 2003, KS Associates performed boundary surveys of nine park areas along the shoreline of Lake Erie. The survey was required to determine the exact boundaries of the parks and was needed to fulfill a lease agreement between the City and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

POB selected KS Associates’ project due to the quality of the team they assembled; the amount of research KS Associates’ Survey Group performed; their coordination efforts among the City, ODNR, adjacent property owners and subconsultants; and the unique location of the project along the shores of Lake Erie,” said Lieca Brown, editor of POB magazine.

POB magazine recognized Mark A. Yeager, P.S., KS Associates’ director of surveying services, at the 2005 ACSM National Conference and Technology Exhibition in Las Vegas, March 18-23. The project was also the cover story for the April 2005 issue of POB magazine. The article stated, “The project proved the value of surveyors and the advancement of technology, as well as the importance of extensive research and accurate boundary surveys.”
