Westbound I-90 Innerbelt Bridge — Cleveland, Ohio

The Ohio Department of Transportation selected the design-build team of Walsh Construction and HNTB Ohio Inc. for the Westbound I-90 Innerbelt Bridge. KS Associates provided engineering and surveying services in support of this major, historical project.
KS's role was to work with the HNTB team to provide design support services. KS also provided surveying services necessary for the preliminary design and throughout the project as needed.
This is by far the largest design-build project in which KS has participated. Construction of the project commenced in 2011 and substantial completion is anticipated in the fall of 2013.
About the Westbound Innerbelt Bridge Project:
The Westbound Innerbelt Bridge project will be Ohio's largest single transportation investment ever. The project involves the construction of a new westbound bridge to the north of the existing I-90 Innberbelt Bridge which currently carries eastbound and westbound traffic. When the new westbound bridge is open, the existing Innerbelt bridge will be converted to eastbound traffic, on essentially the same alignment that exists today. The Plan improves safety by realigning I-90 through the Inner Belt Curve to reduce the severity of the curve and by braiding or consolidating ramps within the Innerbelt Trench, which will minimize conflicts between vehicles entering and exiting the highway.
