State Route 4 Improvements — ODOT District 3, Erie County

An ODOT Traffic Safety Study called for a new two-way center turn lane along a portion of SR 4 in Erie County to reduce or eliminate accidents. KS Associates was responsible for all design and construction plans for this Highway Safety Program (HSP) improvement project (ERI-4-9.82). The project involved the widening and resurfacing of 0.91 miles of SR 4 from a two-lane pavement section to a three-lane, 36-foot-wide section with improved graded and paved shoulders, closed drainage systems and improved roadside ditches.
KS Associates prepared all plans for the roadway, drainage, part-width maintenance of traffic, traffic control and right of way for the widening. In addition, KS Associates prepared a comprehensive Stage 2 Drainage Report for the storm sewer system and roadside ditches for this very flat project area.

KS Associates works hard to find the best-value design for roadway improvement projects. KS Associates helped minimize right-of-way impacts to adjacent properties, thereby reducing right-of-way acquisition costs.
