Lear Nagle Road Relocation/Realignment — North Ridgeville, Ohio

To accommodate a new retail store on the Northwest corner of the intersection of Lear Nagle and Center Ridge Roads, an intersection had to be relocated to provide safe access and to improve traffic flow. KS Associates designed the relocation and realignment of the intersection; traffic signal modifications; extension of turning lanes on Center Ridge Road; addition of turning lanes on Lear Nagle Road; relocation of existing driveways and parking lot access to local businesses; installation of sidewalks, including handicapped requirements; and installation of new storm sewers.
The most challenging design aspects of the project included the design of a super-elevated pavement due to horizontal and vertical grade changes; the requirement of a retaining wall between the roadway and the new retail site; and sandy and saturated soil conditions. |
KS Associates worked with the City of North Ridgeville and the Ohio Department of Development to obtain the necessary funds to complete the project through Tax Increment Financing (TIF).
