KS Associates is on a design-build team with Kokosing Construction Company Inc. to provide engineering services for the resurfacing of 10.82 miles of U.S. 20, a divided four-lane highway. This $12.2 million project is located in Sandusky County. The preliminary design submitted by KS allowed Kokosing to come in as the lowest bidder.

The project involves removing and replacing 8” of asphalt, and crack and seating approximately 14 lane-miles of reinforced concrete pavement.

KS developed an innovate approach to maintaining traffic without the use of concrete barrier, which significantly reduced Kokosing’s bid.

KS also provided a full topographic survey of the entire project length.

The project is has four Buildable Units (BUs). BU-2, the first three-miles of the project, was on an accelerated schedule and is under construction. The project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2012.
