State Route 619 Roadway Widening Analysis — City of New Franklin, Ohio

KS Associates conducted a Conceptual Alternatives Study and Alternative Analysis for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for SUM-619-4.73, a proposed Highway Safety Project (HSP) located in the City of New Franklin at the intersection of S.R. 619 and S.R. 93.
The purpose of the study was to investigate alternatives for widening the intersection and installing left-turn lanes. The study included environmental investigations, a traffic study, alternatives analyses and design services to prepare preliminary improvement plans.
The HSP was developed according to ODOT’s PDP for Minor Projects. The project was complicated due to the steep side slopes along both S.R. 619 and S.R. 93, the need to realign S.R. 619, and the need to remove a hillside embankment requiring significant earthwork or retaining structures.
The recommended design alternative was to add left turn lanes to S.R. 619 in each direction, add a right turn lane to S.R. 619 eastboun, and add a right turn lane to S.R. 93 southbound. This alternative was selected because it minimized environmental and right of way impacts. |
